Asiago-Black Pepper Breadsticks

Asiago-Black Pepper BreadsticksAsiago-Black Pepper Breadsticks (Adapted from CL)

1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup white whole wheat flour
1 ounce fresh grated asiago cheese
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon coarse black pepper
1/8 teaspoon salt
5 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon extravirgin olive oil

Preheat oven to 450

In a medium bowl, whisk together flours, cheese, baking powder, pepper and salt. Drizzle in the water and oil - stir until the dough comes together. Scoop the mixture to a lightly floured surface and knead just until it comes together, about 4 - 6 times.

Evenly divide the dough into 14 to 18 pieces, depending on the size you want, and shape each into a long rope - about 8" long. Set ropes on a parchment lined baking sheet.

Bake until bottoms are golden brown, about 8 to 12 minutes. Remove and place on a wire rack to cool completely.

Makes about 14 to 18 sticks.
