Cinnamon Apple Snaps

Cinnamon Apple Snaps

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour, plus additional if necessary
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
heaping 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 Granny Smith apple
1/2 cup of warm water
1/4 cup orange blossom honey

Preheat oven to 350

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, oats and cinnamon.

Core apple and mince into small pieces. Stir into the flour mixture. Add water and honey - mix until combined, adding enough additional flour to make a stiff dough.

Line baking sheets with parchment paper. Scoop out dough and place on the baking sheet - use a size appropriate for your dog - I used about 1/2 tablespoon of dough per cookie. Flatten each dough ball with the bottom of a glass dipped in whole wheat flour as the dough is a bit sticky.

Bake for 30 minutes, turn the cookies over and place back in the oven until both sides are a deep golden - about 20 to 30 minutes more. Remove and place cookies on a wire rack to cool. They may be a little soft, but they will get quite crispy as they cool.
