Hamburger and Grape-Tomato Pizza

Hamburger and Grape-Tomato Pizza (Adapted from Everyday Food)

about 1 pound prepared whole-wheat pizza dough (I used my favorite recipe)
3/4 cup marinara sauce
4 ounces shredded provolone cheese
1 cup grape tomatoes, halved
4 ounces ground sirloin
salt and fresh ground ground pepper

Preheat oven to 450 degrees with a pizza stone placed on a rack (it is fine if you don't have a stone - just follow the directions below).

On a lightly floured work surface, roll or stretch the dough into a large 13" circle or rectangle. If you are using a pizza stone, transfer the dough to a peel laced with cornmeal. If you don't have a stone, place the pizza on a large rimless baking sheet rubbed with oil.

Evenly spread the sauce over the dough, leaving a rough 1" border around. Scatter the top the shredded cheese and then arrange the sliced tomatoes over. Break off small pieces of the beef and scatter it over the pizza. Season with salt and pepper.

Place in the oven and bake until the crust is golden, beef is cooked and cheese has melted, about 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Makes about 4 servings.
