Jerk-Spiced Shrimp

Jerk-Spiced Shrimp (Adapted from CL)

1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground thyme
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 pounds peeled and deveined large shrimp

Prepare grill to medium-high heat.

In a small bowl, stir together sugar, paprika, salt, garlic powder, cayenne, thyme and allspice.

In a large bowl, toss together oil and shrimp - scatter spice mixture over the top, then toss again to coat well. Thread shrimp evenly between 8 skewers - place skewers onto grill and cook until done, about 2 to 3 minutes per side.

Makes about 4 servings.

  1. Thanks, Joe! This was fast and delicious - and a good way to use up a lot of paprika in the never-ending quest to actually use up the spices in the overflowing spice cabinet!
